It would be really useful for us to get an understanding of what other Trusts are doing in terms of "system administration" for Radiology. Here at Gateshead the Pathology IT Manager will be the ICE Administrator but we have recognised the need to have and expert user within radiology to support them and represent radiology's interests.

It would be really useful if I could get an idea of what other Trusts are doing in this are in terms of: -

 ·         What is the role – System Administrator or Super User?

·         Who fulfils the role in Radiology – clinical / non clinical?

·         Does the same person manage/administer RMS?

·         Does the same person manage/administer PACS?

·         Is the role full time or part time?

·         What are main activities the role fulfils.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Hi Clare,

At South Tees, we have an application support officer (me!) who looks after Ice on a day to day basis, managing users, locations, clinicans and fault fixing. We then have a link in pathology (clinical) and our PACS team in radiology (non-clinical) who look after thier own tests within ICE (sorry I don't know what RMS is!). We also have 2 data quality officers who look after the merging of duplicates.

Does this help?

Emma

WOW, can I come work with you Emma? - I do all that myself. It would be nice if the Pathology folks did get more involved, but because I'm ex-Pathology anyway, they use it as an excuse not to. However, I know nect to nothing about Radiology but it seems to be going the same way - heaven knows what will happen when we go live with it

My biggest bug bear is that no-one seems to want to monitor the system to make sure the interfaces are behaving and there are no deferred orders to be sorted, They just moan that it's not worked (rant over )
