read coding downloaded results
Is anyone else using ICE in conjunction with iLab via HL7 messaging? We are having problems getting our results properly coded on download through interop. The problem seems to be tied to how ICE does or does not identify the sample type and t ...

Analysers not reading bar-codes
At West Suffolk Hospital we are experiencing an unacceptably high number of sample rejections by our analysers because they cannot read the barcodes on the labels. Initially I put this down to particular old printers as the problem did not seem wid ...

RE: Label and Form Printing from EMIS
We have now found the solutoin to many of our EMIS users' printing problems using client side HTML. N.B. this applies to ICE Berg release and IE7 I guessed that the problem was tied to Internet Option Settings. I have applied the settings below t ...

RE: Reprinting requests after sample arrived in lab
We have prevented users reprinting once the specimen is received by using a custom status code. Apex sends status IP which ICE displays as ID and we prevent any update/reprint of the request from then on.

RE: Label and Form Printing from EMIS
We have been suffering a similar problem with various of our EMIS LV sites, but we do not use client control - many of our GPs are connect via DHCP so we do not know from session to session where an individual terminal is. Does the LPT1 problem a ...

printing to barcode printers
Does anyone have experience of printing to Zebra printers at remote GP sites? If so, how does ICE handle the need to print a variable number of labels per request? At WSH we currently use A4 forms with 6 embedded labels and I am trying to find ...

client control at GP practices
Does anyone have experience of using clint control printing at GP practices? I am wondering whether: It can be made to work through N3 addressing? It provides any performance benefits over normal windows printing? GP users like it better than ...

RE: ICE Mail
Jamie, Can you expand on your use of an SMTP alert for results, please? I'm guessing that ICEMAIL won't quite hit the spot for clinicians who don't have a dedicated ICE session running and would like a way to nudge them into looking...

branchcodes and interop
Ben Houghton - West Suffolk We are about to begin our GP rollout and it has occurred to me to wonder how locations are identified through interop. We have several practices that have multiple branches. When a user makes a request through EMIS ...

RE: Request forms
Our initial plan was to go entirely paperless but the exingencies of satisfying transfusion services requirements and keeping processes simple led us to opt for always printing a request from for all path requests. I think we are probably using the ...

RE: 'Copy to' doctor
I think it would be good if the system displayed the patients registered GP in the patient details and might avoid the logical complexities and therefore coding effort involved in re-orering dropdown lists...

RE: Labels & Requesting
At WSH we originally planned to go paperless, using Thin ICE to produce labels at the bedside but were sytmied by the fact that our transfusion labelling software would not reside alongside Thin ICE on our pda's. Our transfusion team, like that at ...

RE: ICE Speed
We have yet to roll our service out but have already identified some undesireable timimg issues. There appear to be various services which require a component download. If you have not used a particular service for some time, (say a half hour) the ...
