Dear all,

Here in Sheffield we are planning on rolling out ICE to GP practices to access the results from secondary care, but are struggling with producing Information Sharing Agreements and deciding who should be the signatories. HAs anyone else done this, or are we being over the top for IG given that with intergrated access GP practices can only access information for their own patients?

Cheers Geoff

Hi Geoff

yes have created an ISA across Co Durham and Tees Valley. Firstly we have an overarching ISA that has been created for the various different elements of the Local HealthCare Economy to sign up to - this is all about agreements in principle about what should/ shouldn't be shared, recognition of National standards, etc

Then last year we also created an ISA specifically for web-ICE which although still somewhat generic in structure (deliberately as the template can then be used for other similar systems). The PCTs and GP practices have then been asked to complete an Appendix sheet at the end of the policy document and return to the Acute Trust hosting the system that effectively commits them to adhering to the policy and providing contact details for use in the event that anyone should have been found to mis-use of the system.  It is intended that this document also covers a few users who have open-access to the system (eg one acute Trust accessing it's neighbours system where there is shared care, PCT community hospitals acting as intermediate care centres, etc).

Would think that there would be no problems sharing these policy docs with you if you are interested.

The 'vehicle' for forming and agreeing this policy was a regional info Gov group. Would guess you have one similar.

regards

Thanks Dave,

It would be really useful if you could share those with me. My email is geoff.schrecker@nhs.net.

Do you know if there is a documents section here where users can upload, then once we have got something in place I could see if we could upload it to prevent others having to re-invent the wheel.

Cheers Geoff

Hi Geoff, David

Again, great use of the forum.

I would be happy to broker the storage of any example documents that the author was willing to share. If you want to copy me in I will add it to my library.

I am not sure about the feasibility of providing a general area for users however I will pass the suggestion on

best wishes

Dom
