Hi All,

Just looking for a bit of advice and see how other people manage a problem that we have come across.

When a report is generated in our pathology system, we have rules set up for certain ones to be copied to another location eg. Cancer Registry.

This causes us a problem as both reports travel through PMIP and go to Ice but the second replaces the first so the report appears to be from Cancer Registry as the original for Ward Z has been hidden as a duplicate.

I know this is not a fault with Ice and it is behaving as it should, but can anyone help with a work around to this so that the original requesting location shows? Pathology are worried that a result could be missed by clinicans viewing reports by location.

Thanks in Advance,

Emma

First question that springs to mind is why does your LIMS produce a PMIP report for Cancer Registry. If I thought about it long enough I could probably see the logic but hey, it's Xmas and I'm feeling lazy

Emma

I've though about it a bit now and maybe it's just a coincedence. I imagine that your LIMS will be set to produce a copy report to the Cancer registry upon the reporting of a cancer finding or appropriate Snowmed code or similar. This is probably done by rule base that automatically produces it and identifies it by a location code set in the system that indicates cancer reg or something. It's whether or not they receive this electronically into another system via a PMIP message or whether this location has just been automatically added to the PMIP location table within the LIMS as a matter of course. If they don't need it just ask the LIMS system manager to take it out of the PMIP locations table. If they do need it, it's back to the old drawing board
