Hi All,

We have just come across an issue here around Mammography requesting. We were hoping we would be able to put all Radiology onto Order Comms but our RIS (HSS CRIS) won't accept or save images as part of the electronic request and obviously Mammography requests generally carry the breast image which the clinician puts a marker on.

Has anybody else come across this problem and found a solution? Or are you keeping mammography on paper?

Hi Katy,

We are actually developing new functionality in our Bergschrund release of ICE to deal with this. We have a new module coming out in the Bergschrund release called the Clinical Forms toolkit. Using this module you'll be able to upload images then link these images to tests/exams in requesting so that when a user clicks on one of these an image popups and this can be annotated. We can then send this image in binary encoding in the HL7 message we send to CRIS. Both ourselves and HSS are working to deliver this new functioanlity in December. Some other items you may be interested is ICE being able to receive an image back from HSS and integration between the ICE/CRIS diaries. These further two developments will not be available till next year however.
