Does anybody know if it is possible to limit the line length in the Clinical Information box?  Some of our users are having problems because the automatic return is set so long that if they allow for the automatic return the printed request over runs the printable area.  As a work around they have been told to watch the number of characters they type and then put in a manual return...but it would be better if they didn't have to do this. Thanks in advance for any help offered.

There is a setting in System Configuration, requesting, page 2 called GlobalClinicalDetailsMaximumLength where you can send the maximum number of characters. If you have version Sep09 you can now also control the length of all free text fields independantly up to 2048 characters.

I would take it back to Anglia. I just checked mine and the global clinical details box allows 80 (ish) characters on a single line. This displays as three "wrapped" lines on my printed request form. If you want some screen shots, drop me a line and I'll fire some over to you

As Dave Benton suggested it is possible to configure the length of Clinical Information using System Configuration, however remember that other users Radiology, Cellular Pathology, may need more character space than Laboratory Medicine. One of the problems we have set ourselves is requesting endocrinology screens. These screens, around 15 in total, contain between 8 and 18 individual test. Unfortunately the space needed to print these requests often spills on to 2 or 3 forms as the "Tests" selects the 'Description' rather than the mnemonic (Blood count = BC). Does anyone else have this type of problem?
