| Anyone out there using ICE with GUM clinics. If so, how are you handling patient IDs ? | | |

i am trying to set up radiology and Pathology requesting for GUM clinics, i am trying to set it up so that the requestors are 'restricted requestors' for DOSH and only certain users can view requests from and reports for the DOSH clinic.
I have also asked the team to make sure that this is non viewable outside the restricted to view selection, and not sent electronically to the GP systems.
Hope this helps ?
Email me via Anglia if you need more on this ?

| At Bedford we use ICE for reporting the GUM clinic results. These are treated in the same way as any other patient except we have to use the unique code that has been allocated instead of the name, by the clinic. They tend to use a prefix of M or F and then a year and number combined. This is entered into our host system in the name field followed by a comma and then blank. The only thing you have to remember is that when performing a search on ICE it assumes that the number entered is actually a Hospital number, so you have to manually select the NAME radio button to correctly perform the search. | just to let you know there is some interest in the Teespath patch to develop an interface to the Blithe Lilley system so that then Patient Access would be managed through Inter-op linked to NHS numbers and therefore Info Gov should be tighter. would be more affordable and therefore likely to get off the ground if others interested in sharing the costs ??? | | | |

| Dave I've been trying to do some work with this as well. Dominic Dunn was talking to Blithe on our behalf because we too would like a seamless link between the two systems. We get results pmip'd into Lillie but we are wondering how to get the requesting sorted out whilst keeping the patient matching tight. We would be very interested in a way forward on this regards Les | | | |

| Thanks Dave Will keep you posted of any developments. I don't work that closely with the GUM clinic but I'm not aware of any issues they have had with the results coming directly back into Lillie. Regards Les | | | |

| Hi Paul Have you made any progress with setting up requesting for GUM clinics for Imaging and Pathology. We already have restricted access for GUM clinic for results. Wendy Tasker Luton & Dunstable Hospital | | | |

| Hi all, Blithe have now completed the interop interface work and can now connect to ICE in order to place a request. The handling of results is possible via PMIP or if required HL7. Both Blithe and Sunquest are working together in a number of sites. please feel free to contact me if more info is required Dominic | | | |

| Dominic We have been looking at this at West Mid with yourselves and Blithe. An issue I have surrounds the allocation of ICE numbers for brand new patients. Without a copy of a synchronised GUM system PMI when you place an order for a GUM patient with a brand new number then an ICE number is generated because the patient is not in the ICE database. I'm wondering how this manifests itself in Lilie when the report comes back from the LIMS because I'm assuming it uses the ICE number? We are still doing some preliminary testing of this at the moment and whilst the requesting side works we are still looking at the reporting and in particular the issue above. Les | | | |

| Dom, could you give me some more information on this. I have been told by someone at Blithe that they can only handle reports in EDIFACT at the moment. Also I would like to know what is possible on the requesting side. Our GUM clinics are trying to put a business case together at the moment to get electronic reporting set up. It would help if we were aware of all the options. | | | |
