Is anyone using ICE mail or ICE linked to any other email system to alert clinicians when a result has been released to them (as they were the requester..or possibly a 'copy to' ) ??

We are trying at The Hillingdon Hospital, West London, to send e-mails to GPs but without any success. Been put on the back burner for the time being.

We had a function in Anglia days that when a report was issued on to ICE from radiology it was email to the email address in the clinician set up. Work ok but no audit trail or prove a user was sent an email or opened it.
We have now been told it is not supported so will be moving it across to ICEmail with SMTP alert to let user know they is an ICEmail. This way you keep the audit trail.

Jamie,

Can you expand on your use of an SMTP alert for results, please? I'm guessing that ICEMAIL won't quite hit the spot for clinicians who don't have a dedicated ICE session running and would like a way to nudge them into looking...

SMTP is you internal email domain or the nhs.net. You would put the users main email account in the set up of clinician or the user set up. Depends on what trigger you are going to use in the ICEmail analysis .
When it sends an ICEmail it would send an email to the users main email account to inform then there is ICEmail on ICE for them. So when they logged in they would see it.

I have been testing this with MRSA alerts at the moment. The issue I have is that our clinical staff use our Trust EPR for everything and would want to look in there for a result. As the forwarded message from ICE doesn't contain any patient identifiers its a bit useless at the moment.
Currently I get an email that reads "MRSA Alert - Infection Control Hazard". Clinician would then have to log into ICE to see the ICE mail to see result and discover who patient is. Then go to EPR and see if it's a previous or a new and view the rest of the clinical picture. I have asked Sunquest if they could include the Patient ID number in the email so that our clinicians can just log directly into our EPR, look-up the ID number and take it from there. Still awaiting their response though

Hi All,

We have been trying to get external e-mail working with the Report Analysis function for a year now. I can send external e-mails using ICE Mail fine, but when we generate an Alert it only sends it to the ICEmail account. Sunquest have checked the SMTP settings and everything appears to be configured correctly, but for some reason we cannot get it work.

Any help would eb much appreciated. My contact details are:
